Default HB or UA

I can't decide what would be better. Healer Boon builds or UA builds on a hero in harder areas. Anyone know?

It depends. Usually it depends on the situation.
I take HB if another monk has UA so that I can Arcane Mimicry it and heal in the hundreds with Orison of Healing.
If it is a PuG and I know people will die, I take UA so I can quickly res em.
If I'm just H/Hing, I usually use Glimmer of Light or Word of Healing.

I'm a fan of UA and general fast-casting spells. Usually with 12 in Divine, and 9 in healing/prot.

between those two, go UA.

but really you probably want to drop the monk and bring a N/Mo with minions+dwayna's sorrow. the bonus healing from dying minions really helps.

Heroes are so efficient with UA that your body won't even hit the ground before you are up again. So be alert to the effect on your dp. You can rack it up pretty quick if you're not paying attention.

Not a great fan of both, but if I were to answer TS question, my answer will be UA.

Heroes are extremely fast with UA and you will hardly stay dead for a moment, AND you res with max energy and health. There's no doubt the HB bar outputs stronger heals etc. than a similar UA bar, but then UA does allow for more reckless play because even if you die you get up so fast. However, you cannot count on UA Monks to keep you alive as well as HB Monks, and even though UA does allow you to play more recklessly, if you keep exploiting this ability you'll rack up massive DP and perish anyway. If you need a dedicated healer I say HB.

Still, you need to know what you're doing. When I run Monks in PvE, they tend to be Smiting. That's because I've found N/Rt's to be better pure healers. If you are Smiting, then UA is obviously better. The -1 energy degen doesn't matter that much as well since Smiting skills are all 5e.

Long story short - if you need the Monk for pure healing, then HB; if you do not, then UA.

UA. :]
10 DF nets a 48% bonus to healing spells.
Sure they don't cast faster.
But most of them are a second or less cast time anyway. :]
And UA can boost Prot and DF healing spells too, not just healing prayers. :]
